The surprising (not to me, remember I had them making the playoffs this year) Jets are 5-4 and begin the 2nd half of there season in Buffalo.  While most would think that the Jets will falter down the stretch like the last two season here’s 5 reasons why they won’t:

1.  The Front Seven: A unit that’s young, athletic, and energetic led by Mo, Snacks, Richardson, Davis, and Harris.  Look for Coples to have a monster second half of a season.

2.  The law office of Ivory and Bilal: Neither runner is a game changer, but they always run hard and make you earn it when your attempting to tackle them.  This also keeps defenses honest which leads me to number 3.

3.  Geno Smith, The QB under center plays like a rookie and he’s suppose to: Hey Mark Sanchez was a great teammate, but his bonehead mistakes not only hurt the team on the field, but in the locker room.  It’s hard to go out there and bust your ass every play when the QB is turning it over left and right in his 4th season.  You can tell teammates see something in Geno and will continue to play hard, with rookie mistakes and all.

4.  FOLK hero and the Special Teams Band:  It’d be crazy to think that Nick Folk will continue on his torrid 23/23 pace, but I’ll never count him out, Folk leads the league in Field Goals made.  He makes clutch kick after clutch kick and with a great D and a young QB he’s exactly what you need.  Picking up Josh Cribbs (if he still has something left in the tank) was one of the greatest moves of the season.

5. They’re all in for Rex:  The team knows Rex is on hot seat and being 5-4 at the bye is great, but at the end of the day it means nothing if the team doesn’t finish the deal with a playoff spot.

I believe they will: Jets end up 10-6 believe in the scheme

Editors Note:This article is first a response to a tweet where I asked for people to tell me their teams and I would give them a reason to be optimistic about 2013.  @tylermoore614 tweeted back The Jets.  I then wrote an article about it and it was less then flattering to the JETS so Big Play a noted Jets fan has now written a serious proclaimation of why the Jets will be “better than we think/thought”.  – Jason “Big J” Allen

Awful!

Circus!!

Writing Checks they can’t cash!!!

Butt Fumble!!!!

Embarrassment!!!!!

Those are the words used by most when talking about the Jets and most of those words are from OUR own fans.  However, everything is not as bad as it seems.  I’m not predicting a Super Bowl appearance, but I do believe the Jets can compete for a playoff spot.  Why or How?  Well it all starts with Double R!  No not the Ruff Ryder Crew, but Rex Ryan, who always seems as if he can’t win for losing in the New York media market.  Before I begin let me get one thing off my chest NY media yall say Sanchez sucks and is protected or babied by Rex (has his number tattooed on him) and then when Rex gets tough on Sanchez and puts the media called “sorry QB” in the 4th qtr of a preseason game and now everyone rips Rex?  I digress.  Here are the 5 reasons the Jets will be better than you think:

1.  RR happens to excel in turning the attention away from his team and putting himself in the spotlight; whether it be mocking the media or running with bulls in Spain.  This will keep the pressure and expectations low for the Jets to excel.  RR is not the greatest head coach but he’s a damn good defensive coach and before last seasons 6-10 record most seemed to be okay with a defensive oriented head coach, especially in a league being run by offense.

2.  RR’s back is against the wall and when your back is against the wall you do what you do best, YOU GO BACK TO SQUARE ONE!. The “they take a swipe at one of ours, we’ll take a swipe at two of there’s”, and the K.I.L.L (Keep It Likeable and Learnable) approach.

3.  There’s a plan on offense with Marty Mornhinweg implementing the west coast offense (in his previous 2 offensive coordinator jobs 49ers[’97-00] and Eagles[’06-’12] his offenses averaged 10th in ranking), yes the QBs still have to execute, but they’ll still be million times better than whatever Sparano was doing.  Also Holmes will be back and his skills in catching and route running shouldn’t be overlooked especially in a West Coast system.  The offensive line will be better with the experience OT Austin Howard got last year.  The running game will improve with the acquisition of RB Chris Ivory and development of RB Bilal Powell.

4.  Mo Wilkerson is a beast!  The whole Defense will be tough to deal with on Sundays and with D. Harris in the middle and Cro on the back end expect a top 10 ranking.  See reason #3 for why our Defense will be better.

5.  Lastly the Jets always do good when “so called” experts expect the worst, except for those Rich Kotite years (won 4 games in two season [3-13 ’95 and 1-15 ’96]).

These are the reasons why they Jets will be “Better Than You Think in 2013!”  Watch Gang Green take over!

I tweeted out to the masses to give me your favorite NFL team or a team in general and I would give you reasons to be optimistic for 2013.  Well the first team I got was the NEW YORK Football Jets (Play Like A Jet right???).  Special shout out to Tyler Moore (@Tylermoore614) for choosing the J-E-T-S.  So lets get right into it then:

1.  If the JETS stink this year, next year they will hear “With the First pick of the 2014 draft the New York Jets choose Jadeveon Clowney”.  That will automatically solve their pass rush problem.

2.  Unless by some miracle Mark Sanchez has a get year (Jets fans need to buy lotto tix if that happens) the Jets will get his salary off their books and he becomes a Free Agent.  We all know what that means don’t we?  My Youtube clip ass showing dance parties.

3.  If the Jets stink it’s very likely Rex Ryan can turn his back on the Jets and walk out as he is FIRED!  Why is this a good thing?  Well the last time they got a new head coach the Jets went to two AFC Championship games, in consecutive years.

4.  On an actual bright side, the division is looking a bit weak (I know Pat fans will scream, but they have lost a lot can’t see them being dominate) the Fins are a HUGE question mark.  Especially betting on a QB to take a step, and a high paid WR who runs 4 routes.  The Bills look to not have a QB to start the season, and they always look good on paper defensively.  The defense sucks when the real games start.  Like I mentioned earlier the Pats are hurting for talent and we see you can get after Brady with physical defensive line play (see Detroit preseason game).  I say all this to say that after 8 games everyone in that division can be with in one game, or tied.  Puts you in a position to get hot and make a playoff try.

5.  If this team is a dumpster fire at least we can laugh at the Rex Ryan post game talks.  We can expect a very Jim Mora(Saints)/Dennis Green/Mike Singletary/Buddy Ryan/Jerry Glanville/Jim Mora(Colts)/ blow up that will delight us for years to come.

So all you JETS fans cheer up, it’s not as bad as it seems, because next year (2014) will look lovely.  If your bad enough this year, maybe, just maybe you can get Fireman Ed back.  Matter fact who needs him, NY should start a new fan phenom JET-lag Jerry.  #Mr.BrightSide

Once again message me with your team and I will tell you a positive outlook for the upcoming year @UnsportsmenBigJ

Thanks again @TylerMoore614

Is there anyone else???

In 2009 when Rex Ryan took over the JETS in his introductory press conference he said that young corner Darrelle Revis was the best corner in the league; which made most members of the media chuckle. After all, the media knew the 2nd yr corner out of Pitt was talented and had great upside, especially after making the Pro Bowl under the recently fired Eric Mangini; but the best corner in the league approaching his 3rd season, C’MON NOW REX.

However, it turns out that Rex was right.  In the 3 seasons under Rex, Revis made the Pro Bowl and All Pro team.  He has established himself as the best corner in the NFL and even has an island named after his talent (Revis Island where Wide Receivers get “Lost” and there is no Gilligan, or fine ass Mary Ann and Ginger). Now in his 6th season, the Great Revis has tore his ACL thus ending his season and the Jets season as well according to fans and the media.

Some say Gang Green should pray to the man whose name rhymes with Revis (and if that doesn’t work Tebow your up). The Jets face a tall task no doubt and with “The Beast” (Andre Johnson) and “Fitz” (Larry Fitzgerald) still to come on the schedule.  Can Rex Ryan depend on a corner that struggles to say the names of his 10 kids to be focused enough to place these wide receivers on ALCATRAZ?

I say HELL NAH; although as defensive coordinator of the Ravens he’s had success with Ray Lewis and Ed Reed both missing an extended period of time. However, the Jets don’t have the front 7 as his previous Ravens teams; and the strength of the Jets is the secondary it doesn’t look good for Rex.  People always say you shouldn’t trust a skinny Chef, so can Rex still cook up a mad defense As a Jets fan, I believe in Gang Green even after last week. WATCH THEM EARN IT!!!
